inspired by: Nico
A singer, a songwriter, an actress, and a model — Nico remains a pop-icon in many circles, ranging from music to fashion. She has collaborated with the likes of Federico Fellini, Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey, The Velvet Underground, Brian Eno, and many others.
⠀
Nico’s influence on music is undeniable: The Velvet Underground’s first album, on which she collaborated, is credited to have inspired countless punk musicians and created a new sub-genre of rock music, called “alternative rock”. Her solo work, on the other hand, was appreciated by gothic rock and post-punk musicians, especially during the genres’ emergence in the UK.

However, little is discussed regarding her unique style. Although she was recognized for her chiseled facial features and blonde long hair, Nico’s signature spread beyond her physical attributes. Her bohemian lifestyle reflected in the clothes that she wore, embracing theatrical silhouettes. Despite her generally favoring monochromatic clothing, some of her outfits featured vertical stripes that lengthened her frame.
