Following her debut at the Met Gala in John Galliano for Zara (the “Zara” aspect is questionable, but it’s a story for another post), in what can be deemed as the music legend’s signature look, we were intrigued to explore her style over the years… And it didn’t disappoint!

Nicks is an American signer and songwriter, most notably know for her work with Fleetwood Mac. With a musical career spanning over five decades, Nicks’ contribution to Fleetwood Mac has brought them immense success, including the title of one of the best-selling musical acts of all time.

Throughout the years, Nicks stayed true to her style — a combination of free-flowing silhouettes, shawls, draped skirts and dresses, and platform boots. The latter she started wearing primarily because she felt “a little ridiculous” standing next to her bandmate Mick Fleetwood, who is 198cm tall (she is 155cm).

Although she has experimented with wearing different colors, one shade that she always kept coming back to is black; in the 70s, her style even earned her witchcraft accusations. The truth is that Nicks always felt more comfortable in black, meanwhile her shawls added a dramatic effect during her performances. Somewhere along the way, a top hat also joined the equation, becoming a staple for her stage looks.

Her bohemian and free-spirited style inspired many, including designers like Anna Sui, Claire Waight Keller, and Hedi Slimane, who translated her spirit in their designs.
