PJ Harvey is an English singer and songwriter, known for her work primarily in alternative rock, grunge, and punk blues genres. Her musical career began in 1988, when she joined the band Automatic Dlamini as a saxophonist, guitarist, and vocalist. In 1991 she formed her own band that would play as an ensemble for several years, until dismantling in 1995 and Harvey embarking on her solo career.

When working on her albums, her goal is to never repeat herself — which is why her albums sound different from her previous work. To complement her music, she also changes her appearance for each album, opting for eclectic designs and garments, depending on the mood and theme that she wishes to touch upon in her music.

⠀
During her earlier years as a solo musician, she opted for a hyper-feminine persona, with icy-blue eyeshadow, red lips, and a hot-pink catsuit — a look that drew significant attention to her persona. In the more recent years, she has been spotted wearing head-to-toe looks by Ann Demeulemeester, accessorized by avant-garde headwear.
