Cavalli at his finest: exploring the Roberto Cavalli FW 2004 ready-to-wear show

This early 2000s show was peak excess, with its heavy fabrics, luxurious furs, and ornate prints…

And it was Roberto Cavalli at his finest!

For his FW 2004 ready-to-wear collection, Cavalli presented garments that were heavily inspired by bohemian aesthetics and silhouettes.

Echoing 70s hippie and bohemian aesthetics, several looks presented layered outfits, oftentimes adorned with stunning furs and detailed accessories. The patterns were also plenty: Cavalli’s beloved animal print was seen on multiple garments, combined with bright floral and fleur-de-lis patterns.

A couple of the garments featured baroque influences, such as some of the pastel corsets or silk hussar’s jackets with embroidered motifs. Paired with deep plunging necklines or extremely low-waisted tight trousers, these were seductive outfits — in a very bold, early 2000s manner.

Meanwhile, some other models felt like they stepped off an antique pirate ship to walk the runway.

Despite this eclecticism and abundance of details, it’s a beautiful show that offers plenty to appreciate. In a very Cavalli fashion, it makes it easy to fall in love with the sexy maximalim of the early 2000s.
